Bison JV Football Team Falls Short In Comeback Attempt

HYDE — After taking a first half lead of 6-0 and falling behind 16-6 in the fourth quarter, the Clearfield Bison Junior Varsity football team fell one score short of the visiting DuBois Beavers and lost 16-12.

The Bison’s final drive of the game ended on a tipped ball that was ultimately intercepted in the end zone, which  sealed the win for the Beavers.

The Bison took a 6-0 lead in to halftime on a short plunge by Jason Plubell.

The Beavers took an 8-6 lead in the third quarter after a 27 yard scoring strike and a successful 2-point conversion.

They expanded their lead to 16-12 after a short pass and another successful 2-point conversion.

The home team turned up the heat and got back in the game after a 34-yard scoring strike from Oliver Billotte to Ian Billotte.

The Bison had one final chance to steal the come-from-behind victory, but the final drive ended with 1:15 left to play and the Beavers ran out the clock to set the final.

The Bison (0-1) are now off until September 10 when they go on the road to Martinsburg to face the Central Dragons.
