CURWENSVILLE – After months of discussion, a decision was finally reached yesterday when Curwensville Borough Council voted to hire Bruce Cramer as the School Resource Officer for the Curwensville Area School District.
The council held a brief executive session prior to formally making the decision, and all members voted unanimously on the choice.
Cramer is from Punxsutawney and has worked as a police officer in Brookville, Sykesville and Reynoldsville, where he held a similar job. Council members said he also works as a substitute instructor at Jeff Tech in criminal justice classes.
Ultimately, Cramer brings 18 years of experience to the job, which will take effect immediately, and his first day on the job will be next Friday during an in-service day at the school.
The school district will be picking up the expenses for the SRO position, as part of the agreement with the borough.
Council members thanked everyone from both the borough and district for their time while making this decision, adding that they have been happy to work with the district representatives.
