Clearfield Legion Team’s Opener Postponed

CLEARFIELD — Monday’s opener for the Clearfield American Legion baseball team against Punxsutawney/Brookville was postponed because of Sunday’s rains.

A make-up date for the Jefferson County Legion game will be determined later, according to assistant coach Ed Yeager.

The Chiefs are scheduled to visit Curwensville Wednesday for a 6 p.m. JCL game.

They’ll head for Elkins, W.Va., the next morning for their first appearance in the Pizza Hut Hillbilly Classic, booked for five Orange Division games over five days.

The John Lewis Shade Post 6 Chiefs will play Beckley (W.Va.) Legion Post 32 at 2 p.m. and Circleville (Ohio) Legion Post 134 at 6:30 Thursday, Columbia (Md.) Legion Post 300 at 2 p.m. and Garrett County (Md.) Legion Post 214 at 7:30 Friday and Moorefield (W.Va.) Post 64 at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Winners of the five divisions and one wild-card team will return Sunday for games at 11 a.m. and 2 and 5:30 p.m. that will decide the champion.
