SPRING MILLS — Penns Valley scored all of its runs in the fifth inning for a come-from-behind 3-2 Mountain League win over visiting Clearfield in high school girls softball action Monday afternoon.
Consecutive doubles by Dayna Brown, Jordan Anderson and winning pitcher Lydia Collison off Lady Bison starter Abby Fedder tied the score before Kendra Bumgardner drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly off reliever Erica Hanes.
Fedder was a tough-luck loser as she had scattered three hits over the first four innings.
She struck out two and walked one.
Hanes pitched two hitless innings with one strikeout and one walk.
Both of Clearfield’s runs were the result of two-out clutch hits by Aspen Bishop and Brooke Cline.
The Lady Bison (6-10, 4-9 ML) broke on top in the first inning when Cline singled and stole second base before Bishop came through with a single.
Cline registered the RBI in the third with a double that chased home Mackenzie Lansberry, who also socked a double.
Collison then set down 11 batters in a row before Kate Lansberry singled with one out in the do-or-die seventh inning. She induced a forceout and, after issuing her lone walk to pinch-hitter Casey English, got a game-ending groundout.
Collison allowed six hits and had two strikeouts as Penns Valley (5-12, 4-9) avenged a 9-7 loss at Clearfield April 12 in a game the Lady Rams had a 6-0 lead going to the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Lady Bison face non-league games against Brookville at home Tuesday and at Hollidaysburg Wednesday.
