Clearfield Junior High Wrestling Team Advances Eight to State Tourney

ST. MARYS –The Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling (PJW) Area V Junior High tournament was held at St. Marys High School on Sunday February 25.

The Clearfield Junior High Wrestling team won the team title with 175 points and had eight wrestlers place in the top three to qualify for the PJW state tournament, which will be held Saturday March 3 and Sunday March 4 at the Johnstown War Memorial.

Winning gold medals were Evan Davis at 77 pounds, Nolan Barr at 107, Mark McGonigal at 140, and Oliver Billotte at 187.

Runners-up were Karson Kline at 107, Luke Freeland at 124, and Nick Domico at 187.

Hayden Kovalick at 167 was the lone bronze medalist.

Second place in the 18-team tournament was Marion Center with 95 points, followed closely behind in third with 93 points were the host St. Marys Flying Dutch.
