ST. MARYS – The Clearfield Lady Bison basketball hit the road on Monday night, traveling to St. Marys to play the Lady Dutch.
With a scrappy, tenacious defense, and a more consistent offensive effort in the second half, the Lady Dutch prevailed, 53-35.
Clearfield trailed by just five at the break, 23-18, but the Lady Dutch outscored the Lady Bison over the final 16 minutes 30-17 to gain the victory.
Alayna Ryan led the Clearfield offense with 17 points. The junior guard has now scored in double figures in 11 of the 12 games played by the Bison.
St. Marys had two players in double figures with Bekka Bauer hitting for 15 tallies, while Megan Quesenberry added 13 points.
The Lady Bison were three of five from the foul line with St. Marys connecting on 12 of 17 from the charity stripe.
St. Marys also won the junior varsity game, beating Clearfield 43-18. McLain Alt had six points for the Lady Bison.
Clearfield, now 4-8 on the season, will host Philipsburg-Osceola on Wednesday evening. There will be no junior varsity game and the varsity contest will tip-off at 7 pm.
