State police at Clearfield
- State police received a report about an incident of retail theft that occurred Wednesday at the Dollar General Store in Houtzdale Borough. During the incident, a 15-year-old male juvenile allegedly took a pair of sunglasses from the store. The glasses were later returned, the report says. Charges have been filed through the district court.
State police at DuBois
- State police received a report about a theft that occurred sometime between Nov. 23 and Dec. 1 on Beechton Road in Washington Township. State police say a 1991 black Chevrolet Camaro was unlawfully removed from the victim’s residence. It wasn’t running and hasn’t been registered to PennDOT since 1997. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at DuBois at 814-371-4652.
- State police reported an incident of DUI that occurred Sunday on Route 28 in Snyder Township. According to state police, a vehicle operated by a 37-year-old man was stopped due to him speeding. During the investigation, he showed signs of impairment and allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol earlier that night. He was subsequently taken to Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital for a blood draw and later released to his wife. State police are continuing their investigation at this time.
State police at Philipsburg
- State police received a report about a theft that occurred Wednesday on 11th Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, someone allegedly removed a Star Shower motion Christmas light from the victim’s yard. The light is valued at $50.
- State police received a report about an incident of disorderly conduct that occurred Wednesday on Front Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, a Morrisdale couple allegedly engaged in fighting behavior while walking along the street. Both were cited for the incident.
- State police received a report about an incident of theft that occurred sometime between Sept. 28 and Nov. 28 on State Street in Rush Township. During the incident, someone allegedly stole a car radiator belonging to the victim. State police are continuing their investigation at this time.
- State police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief that occurred Sunday on North Seventh Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, a 46-year-old Osceola Mills man, Lawrence Paul, was in the victim’s residence and under the influence of drugs. He allegedly became irate and broke the victim’s kitchen table. State police say he was cited through the district court for the incident.
State police at Punxsutawney
- State police received a report about an incident of fraud that occurred Dec. 1 in Pine Creek Township. A business representative told state police that fraudulent checks were written and attempted to be cashed using the business’ information and account. State police are continuing their investigation at this time.
State police at Ridgway
- State police receive a report about an incident of theft that occurred sometime between May 1 and Wednesday in the 100 block of Ridge Road in Fox Township. During the incident, someone allegedly stole two, 24K gold dipped roses; one red and green glass rose; and one maroon rose candle. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at 814-776-6136.
- State police received a report about an incident of aggravated assault that occurred Saturday in Kane. According to state police, Shawn M. Czeczely engaged in an argument with the female victim. He allegedly began punching her, knocked her to the ground and began striking her head off the floor. State police say he then struck her repeatedly about her head, face and body, which resulted in multiple broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung. The victim was taken to UPMC Kane for treatment and Czeczely was arrested on aggravated assault, strangulation and related charges. He was arraigned and lodged in Elk County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 20.
Clearfield Borough
- Police responded to an activated alarm on North Second Street. Police located an employee at the scene, and they had set off the alarm.
- Police conducted a traffic stop after a violation on Nichols Street. The driver was found to hold several warrants. She was taken into custody and to the jail.
- Police responded to a noise complaint on North Second Street. Upon arrival, police were unable to locate any excessive noise.
- Police reported that a purse was located along East Pine Street. The owner was subsequently notified about their purse.
- Police arrested a male for public intoxication while he was allegedly highly intoxicated along Walther Avenue.
- Police are investigating an alleged theft from a Nichols Street business.
- Police responded to the hospital for a mental health patient who was reportedly acting disorderly. Upon arrival, police were able to handle the incident.
- Police responded to an alleged altercation on Cemetery Road. Upon arrival, police could hear two people engaged in a verbal altercation and made contact with them. Police issued citations for disorderly conduct as a result of the incident.
- Police reported that cardboard with several nails were located along Martin Street. It appeared that the nails were placed in the cardboard in an attempt to cause damage to tires.
- Police assisted Pennsylvania State Parole with taking a male into custody at a residence along North Fifth Street.
- Police responded to a minor vehicle accident at the intersection of Bigler Avenue and North Third Street. No injuries were reported as a result, and both vehicles were driven from the scene.
- Police responded to a two-vehicle accident along East Market and Clark streets. According to police, one vehicle was towed from the scene; one driver was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about an assault that occurred Friday in the area of Warren and George roads in Lawrence Township. Police say a parent was concerned that her son was assaulted while at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School. However, it was later found the altercation had occurred on property near the intersection of Warren and George roads. Police say one juvenile sustained minor injuries and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
- Police received a report about the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle Sunday. During the incident, a known juvenile allegedly took a vehicle that belonged to a Curwensville man. It was then involved in an accident on South Second Street in Lawrence Township after which the juvenile fled the scene. He later turned himself into police. No injuries were reported in the accident; charges will be filed against the juvenile.
- Police reported an incident of DUI that occurred Saturday on Route 879 near Sapp Bros. in Lawrence Township. According to police, a traffic stop was conducted on Route 879 after a motorist crossed over the fog line several times. Upon making contact with the driver, it was determined that she was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Charges will be filed upon receipt of blood test results.
Decatur Township
- Police responded to a two-vehicle accident in the area of Walton Street and Rushton Road. Police say a female was transported by ambulance for medical treatment, and both vehicles were towed from the scene.
- Police received a report about a shed allegedly being broken into. Police are continuing their investigation at this time.
- Police received a report about animals being at large in the area of Teutonic Avenue. Police would like to ask residents to keep their animals on their own property.
- Police received a report about trespassing involving a theft. Police are continuing their investigation at this time.
DuBois City
- Police were requested to check the welfare of a male at a DuBois Street address. Upon arrival, police found that everything was OK.
- Police received a report about a Social Security scam. According to police, a foreign male called and asked for the resident’s social security number. In return, he would send $200 in the mail. Police would like to remind residents not to provide their personal information over the phone.
- Police received a report about a non-reportable accident in the area of 12 N. Brady St. A vehicle stopped for oncoming traffic when another vehicle collided with it. Both vehicles were driven from the scene, and no injuries were reported as a result. The drivers exchanged the necessary information.
- Police received a report about a burglary in progress in the 100 block of West Washington Avenue. According to police, a woman went downstairs in her apartment and found a male standing inside. He told her he wanted to pick up an item from the previous owner. He was asked to leave and complied with the request. Police followed tracks in the snow to a nearby residence and were able to identify the male. The woman didn’t wish to pursue charges.
- Police were requested to assist emergency personnel on South Jared Street. Police made contact with medics and cleared without incident.
- Police received information about a wanted male who was at Penn Highlands Hospital. Police say Justin Phillips was taken into custody on warrants issued by state police. He was allegedly found in possession of drug paraphernalia and released into the custody of state police. Charges are currently pending at this time.
- Police received a report about juveniles fighting on West Long Avenue. Police located a group of juveniles and advised them they needed to go home.
- Penn State DuBois police were assisted with crowd control following a basketball game. A group of fans and some players were agitated after the game, and officers remained at the scene until the crowd cleared with no further incident.
- Police received a report about a minor accident in the Sheetz parking lot on North Brady Street. Officers assisted with the exchange of information. No injuries were reported as a result, and both vehicles were driven from the scene.
- Police observed five juveniles who were walking along Liberty Boulevard. When they saw the patrol unit, they ran behind PNC Bank and into the adjacent plaza on East Park Avenue. Police followed and talked to one juvenile, and they stated they were walking to Sheetz for food. Police took the juveniles back to a West DuBois Avenue address.
- Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot on Hoover Avenue. The caller told police the black Chrysler van had been parked with the engine running for about two hours. Police made contact with the male who was found sleeping in the rear of the van. He’d stopped after becoming too tired to continue driving.
- Police received a report about a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of West Long Avenue and Jared Street. According to police, the driver of a Chevrolet Equinox failed to stop at a red light. It subsequently struck a Chevrolet Cavalier that was turning right onto West Long Avenue. No injuries were reported as a result, and both vehicles were driven from the scene. Police assisted with the exchange of information between the drivers.
- Police received a report about an activated residential burglar alarm in the 400 block of Daly Street. Police made contact with the homeowner who was having trouble setting the system.
