Night-time road work will begin this week in Clearfield and DuBois, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). This work is expected to improve roadway ride quality and extend the life of the roadway surface.
Over the next two weeks, drivers will encounter road crews working night hours, 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. at the following locations:
- July 10, 11 and 12, milling will take place on Route 153 (North Front Street/North Second Street) in downtown Clearfield and a small section toward the Route 879 intersection.
- July 13 and 14, milling will take place on Brady Street in downtown DuBois.
- July 17 and 18, paving will take place on the previously mentioned Clearfield locations.
For each work zone, an alternating traffic pattern will be in place, controlled by flaggers in the roadway. Short travel delays should be expected and drivers should be alert for slow moving and stopped vehicles through the work zone.
Grannas Brothers Contracting of Hollidaysburg is the contractor on this $9 million group project to address improvements to various routes throughout Clearfield, Elk and Cameron counties.
All work is weather and schedule dependent. Work across the three counties is expected to finish in early November. PennDOT will issue updates as work locations change.
PennDOT reminds drivers to be cautious in work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
