BROCKWAY – The Curwensville Lady Tide came up just one run short in a road loss to Brockway on Tuesday, losing to the Lady Rovers by a score of 6-5.
Curwensville tied the score at five each in the top half of the seventh inning on a two out double by senior right fielder Camryn Richards and with pinch runner Olivia McGarry then scoring on a two strike RBI single by Chloe Tubbs.
Brockway picked up the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Lady Rover pitcher Kayla Dowdall raced home with one out on a close play at the plate thanks to a great relay throw by Tide shortstop Kayley Harnett.
Catcher Bailey Bloom, a freshman, and Richards each had two hits for Curwensville.
Lady Rover first baseman A. Dowdall had a game high three hits while sister Kayla had two.
Center fielder A. Azzato smacked a double for Brockway.
The Lady Tide, now 4-6, return home on Thursday against the Lady Owls of Harmony. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:15 pm.
