AMESVILLE – The Curwensville Lady Tide girl’s basketball team won its first game Monday night defeating Moshannon Valley 52-46 on the Damsels’ home court in what was also a Moshannon Valley League contest.
Madison Weber scorched the nets for 26 points for the Lady Tide, including five three pointers in helping new Curwensville coach Jocelyn Bash pick up her first career win.
Curwensville broke open a close game by outscoring Moshannon Valley 17-10 in the final eight minutes after the Damsels held a 36-35 edge after three quarters.
The Lady Tide led at the half by one, 25-24, in the fairly even battle.
Senior Hannah Dixon added 13 for the Lady Tide and drained three treys.
Curwensville hit nine three pointers in the win.
The Damsels were paced on offense by Chloe Blake with 14 and Emma Kitko 13.
Moshannon Valley won the junior varsity game by a score of 23-18 over the young Lady Tide.
The Lady Tide play at home on Wednesday night against West Branch. JV action starts at 6 pm with the varsity to immediately follow.
