GRAMPIAN – The Minted Market, Grampian’s Community Farmers Market, will host the second Grampian Fall Festival on Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Grampian Park.
The day will be full of fun events, including hay rides, apple cider pressing, craft and food vendors, apple and pumpkin pie contests, a chili cook-off, a pumpkin-carving contest and a kid’s one-mile fun run.
The Kid’s one-mile fun run is open to kids ages 10 years and under and will take place at Grampian Park at 11 a.m. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes for the run as a prize will be given for the top three costumes.
Registration is $5 per child with proceeds benefiting the Grampian Fire Company.
The Pumpkin Carving contest is open to all ages. Age groups will be 7 years and under; 8 to 15 years, and 16 years and over. Pumpkins must be fully decorated and dropped off between 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Contestants are also to bring a decorated container for voting, as this will be judged by public vote. Entry forms, along with a $5 registration fee, are due by Oct. 8. Contestants are encouraged to be creative and use their imagination.
You can sign up as an individual, team, or organization for the chili and homemade pie contests. The winners will be chosen by a group of local judges.
There will also be a People’s Choice winner in both contests. Chili should be fully cooked in a standard size crock pot and brought to the park between 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. with a ladle and decorated can for the People’s Choice vote.
The pie contest has two categories – pumpkin and apple pie. Pies are to be brought to the park by 10 a.m. along with a decorated can for People’s Choice vote. The entry fee for the pie and chili contests is $5 with entry forms due by Oct. 8. Awards for all contests will be announced at 3 p.m.
