Jim’s Sports Center recently won the 2016 Old Town Softball League (OTSL) fast-pitch softball league title with a 12-inning 1-0 victory over Bob Boob Garage (BBG).
Terry Potter was the winning pitcher, while Steve Terry was the hard-luck loser as both pitched the entire game.
Lucas Malloy led off the bottom of 12th inning with a single up the middle. After Marcus Luzier walked, Red Harper popped up to the first baseman for the first out. Troy Danver then singled up the middle to drive in Malloy for the game- winning run.
Jims went 4-1 in the playoffs double elimination tourney. They beat Legacy 19-9, lost to BBG 2-1, beat SOI 9-6, and then beat BBG 8-4 and then finally 1-0 in the championship game. Jim’s finished the regular season with 14-6 mark.
This was Jims’ first league championship in 25 years. The only current players and coaches remaining from that 1991 championship team are Bear Stewart, Doug Danver, Mark Luzier and Dave Patrick.
The Jim’s team would like to dedicate the championship to Dan “Snuffy” Malloy and the Jim’s Sports Center family for being such special sponsors for the past 40 years. The team would also like to dedicate the season to the Jacobson family as Suzann continues her battle with cancer and also to Bill Shimmel, who also played on the 1991 team.
