Biles’ Bronze
So Simone Biles didn’t win five gold medals.
A slip on the balance beam cost her the chance to be the first female gymnast to achieve the feat at a single Games since 1904.
She still took home bronze.
So yes, now we know that Biles is human and not some sort of gymnastics robot-god built only to win gold medals.
But it’s her reaction that showed she has the true spirit of an Olympian.
“I’m not disappointed in the medal that I received because anyone would love to have a bronze at an Olympic Games,” she said. “I’m disappointed in the routine that I did.”
One more event to go for Biles — the floor final — which some say is her strongest routine.

Shaunae Miller’s finish to the 400m was picture perfect.
The Bahamanian runner was able to win gold — the country’s first medal in Rio — upsetting American Allyson Felix and denying her a fifth gold medal.
“This is the moment I have been waiting for, I just gave it my all,” the 22-year-old said after winning.
“I am just so happy, so grateful, such emotions I just can’t say.”
The dive had some people talking about the move’s legality and fairness.
Others said it just showed that she had the heart of a champion, literally sacrificing her body for that extra edge.
Legendary Olympian Michael Johnson came to her defense.
“Shaunae Miller’s dive was to recover from falling. Sprinters know the quickest way across the line is a well timed lean. Trust me on that,” he tweeted.
Besides questioning and belittling others’ achievements, Twitter issued its other usual response — brilliant memes.
The tables have turned
Swimming is done at the Olympics, but Ledecky fever hasn’t subsided.
Days after a photo of the swimming star asking for fellow Olympic star Michael Phelps’ autograph popped up online, the two decided to re-create the image today.
Winners are grinners
Was Usain Bolt throwing some shade at his competition?
Probably not, but the smirk on his face in one photo is just priceless.
