Thailand explosions kill 1 in Hua Hin

Two bomb blasts in the Thai resort town of Hua Hin killed at least one person late Thursday, according to Thai police Col. Sutthichai Srisopacharoenrat.

A woman who had a food vending cart in front of a bar was killed, Srisopacharoenrat said.

A number of people were injured, including two tourists whose nationalities are unknown, Srisopacharoenrat said.

One of the bombs was planted inside a tree pot, Srisopacharoenrat said.

The U.S. Embassy said it had no reports of injured Americans.

Edwin Wiek, who has lived in Thailand for almost 30 years, said one bomb was near the London Bar, not far from the Hua Hin Beach.

He tweeted a photo of a planter that was blown apart in one of the blasts.

A video he took shows an emergency responder examining items found on the ground next to a food cart.

Hua Hin is a popular coastal resort, about 145 kilometers (90 miles) southwest of the Thai capital, Bangkok.
