DUBOIS – The Sandy Township Supervisors approved the transfer of a liquor license to a local Sheetz store at their Monday night meeting.
Further, the liquor license will be transferred from Cooper’s Bar & Grille of Grassflat to the Sheetz store that is undergoing renovation near Falls Creek.
Representatives from both Ohio Springs Inc. and Sheetz told the supervisors that of the more than 500 Sheetz stores, 226 currently sell beer and five of those are in Pennsylvania.
This Sheetz was described as being a “different kind of model” that will have a restaurant area to seat approximately 30 people.
This Sheetz location will sell six and 12 packs that will be in a “beer cave.” After traditional alcohol sale hours, it will be locked, they told the supervisors.
According to the representatives, there will be major brands and craft beers available to be purchased in the restaurant section. Also, there will be a “card everyone” policy.
In other business, it was reported that the Slab Run waterline project has been temporarily halted pending an agreement with the railroad to grant access to its property.
The supervisors expressed their appreciation for a citizen’s letter, stating their appreciation for the work of the Sandy Township Police Department.
