Keith Olbermann is thrilled he sold his Trump apartment

Keith Olbermann is FREEEEEEEEE! from living under the Trump name.

The sports and political commentator sold his Manhattan apartment in Trump Palace, and seemed pretty thrilled about the sale, despite taking an apparent 10% loss on the property.

“Like having a 250-pound Oompa Loompa removed from your side. #MakeAmericaWorthTenPercentLessAgain,” Olbermann tweeted.

He had listed the luxury unit in April for $3.9 million — around 7% less than he originally paid for it.

Olbermann lived in the Upper East Side condo for nine years, and had been eager to leave as Donald Trump’s presidential campaign gained momentum earlier this year.

The former ESPN host expressed his delight in a series of tweets on July 14.

He also made a real estate prediction: “Now that I’ve escaped, I can report to you that the market in NYC @RealDonaldTrump apartments is in free fall #TitanicsWithMortgages.”

In March, Olbermann penned an opinion article for the Washington Post announcing he was moving out.

“I’m getting out because of the degree to which the very name “Trump” has degraded the public discourse and the nation itself. I can’t hear, or see, or say that name any longer without spitting. Frankly, I’m running out of Trump spit,” he wrote.

But the sale might have come at a cost.

In an Instagram post last week, Olbermann said “It’s official! Sold my apartment at Trump Palace! Trump only wiped out 10% of the value – just like he would to the county.”

Trump probably isn’t losing any sleep over Olbermann’s decision to sell.

“Keith is a failed broadcaster and the people in the building couldn’t stand him,” the soon-to-be Republican presidential nominee said in a statement to CNNMoney in April.

“He is just trying to use ‘Trump’ to get publicity and stay relevant,” he said in the emailed statement. “The prices of Trump apartments are today, the highest they’ve been. When people find out he is leaving Trump Palace, prices will probably go up.”

The three-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom unit is on the 40th floor of Trump Palace. It has two balconies, a terrace and a chef’s kitchen.
