Slam Jam Set for Aug. 13

DUBOIS – It’s time to slam and jam.

The Slam Jam, three-on-three basketball tournament, will be held at DuBois City Park Saturday, Aug. 13.

The Slam Jam includes youth and adult divisions. Registration is 100 percent free for all youth division teams and $100 per team in the Open Divisions.

The registration deadline is Aug. 7. Check-in will take place at 7:30 a.m. and tip-off is at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., The Treasure Lake Ski Lodge will be providing a chicken barbecue; the cost is $10 per person.

Also planned are a three-point shootout and slam dunk contest.

Hosted by DJ Chuck, and sponsored by The Clearfield-Jefferson Drug Free Communities Coalition, McDonald’s of DuBois, Treasure Lake Ski Lodge, Western Pennsylvania Police Athletic League and OAG Management, the event’s proceeds benefit the Kraig Moore Scholarship Fund and the WPAL DuBois Facility.

Since 2005, proceeds have contributed to 11 consecutive $1,000 scholarships being awarded to deserving high school students interested in pursuing a career in sports broadcast journalism, Kraig’s passion.
