At least 10 people were killed and others injured in a head-on collision of two trains Tuesday in southern Italy, the Italian news agency ANSA reported, citing rescuers.
The collision happened in the country’s southern Puglia region, between the towns of Ruvo di Puglia and Corato, ANSA reported.
An aerial picture from the scene, distributed by Italian firefighters, showed the smashed remains of train cars and a large area of scattered, twisted metal at the impact site.
A child was among those taken from the crash, and was sent to a hospital by helicopter, ANSA reported.
