DUBOIS – The Lady Cardinals of DuBois Central Catholic (DCC) defeated the Curwensville Lady Tide softball team Saturday afternoon in a make-up contest 10-0 in DuBois. The game was called due to the 10-run mercy rule in the bottom of the fifth inning.
With the victory, the Lady Cardinals stayed unbeaten in 2016 with a 16-0 record.
The Lady Tide picked up just four singles against winning DCC pitcher Riley Assalone.
DuBois Central Catholic broke the game wide open with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Of the 10 runs tallied by the Lady Cardinals just five were earned.
Steph Rossi had three hits for DCC while Assalone, Macey Hanes, Ashley Wruble and Sabrina Spencer all had two hits apiece.
Both of the hits by Hanes were of the extra base variety, a double and a triple.
Sayers and Rossi each had a double for the Lady Cardinals.
Curwensville (8-6) travels to Allport on Monday Afternoon to play the Lady Warriors of West Branch at 4:30 pm in a Moshannon Valley League game..
