TYRONE — The Clearfield Area High School softball team ended a four-game slide with a 7-2 victory over Tyrone in Mountain League action Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Bison took a 5-2 lead with four runs in the fourth inning, and Raeleigh Redden hurled four shutout innings in her first relief appearance of the season.
Redden struck out four and allowed only one hit for her third win in nine decisions.
Nikki Brossard walked and came around to score Clearfield’s first run in the second inning via a stolen base, a groundout and an error.
Tyrone (1-13, 0-10 ML) took its 2-1 lead with runs in the second and third frames against first-time starter Erica Hanes, who gave up two hits and five walks while whiffing three in her stint.
Another Lady Eagle misplay opened the door for the Lady Bison in the fourth inning, and they took advantage with infield singles by Kate Lansberry and Hanes pushing Brossard around the sacks, Aspen Bishop delivering the game-winning hit for two RBIs and Brooke Cline scoring on a wild pitch.
Makayla Ross and Abby Fedder came through with RBI singles in the last two innings.
Cline, Ross and Fedder each had a pair of the Lady Bison’s seven safeties.
Megan Tepsic drove in both Lady Eagle runs with a sacrifice fly and a bases-loaded walk.
Clearfield (4-7, 3-7 ML) goes to Curwensville for a non-league game Thursday and will be back at the Bison Sports Complex for a league game against Bald Eagle Area Friday.
