PURCHASE LINE – The Curwensville Lady Tide softball team tasted defeat for the first time this season, losing a road game to Purchase Line 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Tide held a 1-0 lead with a run in the top half of the first inning that would last until the bottom of the fourth when the Lady Dragons scored all the runs it would need, four, to pick up the victory.
Curwensville would pick up another lone run in the top half of the seventh but couldn’t push anymore across home plate to ward off defeat.
Kaylee Harnett and Teghan Jacobson each had three hits for Curwensville while the Lady Tide out hit the Lady Dragons 10-8.
Senior Rylee Young took the tough loss from the circle, but once again had great control, striking out nine, with no walks and one hit batsman.
Over the last three contests Young has struck out 22 batters while not allowing a walk.
The Lady Tide, 3-1, are home on Thursday at 4:15 pm when they host the Lady Wolves of Kane.
