A military helicopter crashed in Indonesia on Sunday, killing at least 13 people aboard, according to the Indonesian Armed Forces. All were members of the military.
The helicopter was en route to assist with a counterterrorism operation in Poso, Central Sulawesi, the military said. Police forces have been hunting one of Indonesia’s top terrorists, known as Santoso, who leads the East Indonesia Mujahidin. Santoso has pledged allegiance to ISIS.
Maj. Gen. Tatang Sulaiman said that weather may have contributed to the crash.
Bodies were taken to a hospital in Palu, Central Sulawesi, to be identified, and the military is conducting an investigation of the crash, Sulaiman said.
