This was a phone call Maryland school kids didn’t want to miss.
A school district belted out a parodied version of Adele’s “Hello” to announce a snow day.
Maybe cabin fever has started setting in for officials at Anne Arundel County Public Schools, who are still trying to dig out after the massive snowstorm hit much of the East Coast on Friday and Saturday.
Officials let their inner songstress out while recording the robotic call that was sent to thousands of parents and students announcing school closures for Wednesday. School spokesman Bob Mosier and his daughter Emilie, 17, belted out the parody.
The lyrics captured much of the frustration parents were probably feeling with their snowed-in kids.
“Hello, it’s me,” sings Mosier. “And I’ve got news for you. We will close schools for another day. Parents will cry boohoo.”
Emilie chimed in about how the snow was affecting people’s social life. “I am loving this semester break but my friends I can’t see. This is dreadful socially.”
The recording won’t win a school district Grammy, but it has become quite a hit online.
