Morris Twp. Fire Remains Under Investigation

MORRIS TOWNSHIP – A Morris Township fire remains under investigation after it damaged a residence on Old Turnpike Road Tuesday, reported the state police at Clearfield.

According to state police, the fire originated inside the residence, and the homeowner’s son was awoken by the activation of smoke detectors. He found heavy smoke inside the residence.

Both residents escaped from the home and called 9-1-1 to report the fire. Morris Township Fire Department, along with mutual aid fire companies, responded and quickly extinguished the fire.

A Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit was requested to conduct an investigation into the origin and cause of the fire. The fire originated in the area of a desk in a hobby/computer room, state police said.

However, the cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time, according to state police. Damage was estimated at $40,000, and the homeowner had insurance on the residence.
