Brussels official: Explosive traces, print of man wanted for Paris attacks, found in search

A prosecutor in Belgium has confirmed that material that could be used to make explosives, as well traces of the explosive TATP, were found during a search of a third-floor apartment in Brussels in December.

In the same search, a fingerprint left by Salah Abdeslam — a suspect in the November terrorist attacks in Paris — was also found, according to a statement from the Brussels prosecutor.

This apartment was rented “under a false identity that might have been used by a person already in custody in this case,” the prosecutor’s statement said.

Three handmade belts that might have been intended to transport explosives were also found. The apartment, on Rue Bergé in Brussels district of Schaerbeek, was searched on Dec. 10.
