Taliban claim responsibility for Kabul suicide attack

The Taliban claimed responsibility for one of two suicide bombings carried out near Kabul’s international airport on Monday.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said on Twitter that the attacker was targeting foreigners.

No one was killed, but at least 28 people were injured in the incident, according to Ismail Kawoosi, a spokesman for the Afghan Health Ministry.

On Monday morning, another suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle near the airport’s main entrance.

The attacker was the only casualty in that incident.

The airport — part of which is used for military purposes — was also targeted in a suicide bombing last week. The Taliban claimed responsibility for that attack as well, saying they were targeting a military convoy of the U.S.-led coalition.
