ALLPORT – The West Branch Warriors boys basketball team made quick work of the winless Curwensville Golden Tide Monday night with an 83-41 beating of the Tide on the Warriors’ home court.
The loss has Curwensville with an 0-7 record heading in to the new year.
West Branch put the game away in the first and second quarters, outscoring the Tide 32-15 in the first and 29-9 in the second for a commanding halftime lead, 61-24.
Four players scored in double figures for West Branch with Austin Krise leading all scorers with 22, followed by Brandon Zwick hitting for 19, Kody Trude scoring 17 and Larry Cowder adding 11.
The Warriors connected on seven three-pointers as Trude and Zwick each had two.
Golden Tide senior Noah Strickland had 10 points to lead Curwensville while Zach Marshall, a junior, had two three’s.
Curwensville did win the junior varsity contest, 56-47, with Nick Stewart and Jared Bakaysa each scoring 12 points for the Golden Tide.
The Golden Tide are now off until Monday January 4, when they entertain DuBois Central Catholic at Patton Hall.
