CLEARFIELD – John D. Rockefeller Jr. once stated, “Think of giving not as a duty, but as a privilege.”  The Clearfield Bank & Trust staff members were privileged to present the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging (CCAAA) with a $500 check towards its Tree of Stars Campaign.

Created in 1996, Tree of Stars is a fundraising campaign that allows individuals and businesses to make a donation in honor or in memory of a loved one. In gratitude for their support, the agency places a star with the donor’s name and the name of the person for whom the donation was being made on a tree that is outside the agency on 103 N. Front St.

Funds raised through the appeal provide support to in-home services and the Meals on Wheels & More program. Gifts to Tree of Stars may bring a hot meal or a bath to homebound older person, or it may help a service already stretched to capacity stretch a little more.

Last fiscal year, the agency served 263,697 meals to more than 1,200 consumers and provided more than 31,400 hours of personal care.

If you would like to make a donation to this year’s Tree of Stars, please call 814-765-2696 or visit www.ccaaa.net and click on “Tree of Stars Appeal.”

For each donation given (under $50), a personalized white star with the donor’s name and the name of the person for whom the donation was being made will be hung on the holiday tree displayed at the corner of Front and Locust streets in Clearfield.

For each donation given at the $50 level or above, in addition to a personalized gold star hung on the live tree, the donor will also receive a 2015 stamped Wendell August hand-forged Aluminum Christmas ornament. This year’s ornament depicts the beauty of the Herald Angel and is titled “The Messenger.”

The agency would also like to thank everyone who has already donated to the campaign and also to this year’s sponsors – WOKW-FM and Action Graphics.
