FLINTON – The Curwensville Lady Tide high school girls basketball team tipped off the new season Friday night against Glendale on the Lady Vikings’ home court.
The game was the first for new Lady Tide head coach Erik Duriancik, and in the end it was Glendale spoiling opening night for the new mentor, 54-20.
The Lady Vikings outscored the Lady Tide in every quarter except the second, with Curwensville having a 9-8 edge.
Glendale set the pace early on by jumping on its visitors after the first eight minutes,18-4.
There was no let-up for the Vikings in the second half as they also won the final two frames easily, 28-7.
Junior Hannah Dixon led the Tide with nine points while Glendale saw three girls hit for double figures.
Junior Meghan Krepps paced the Lady Vikings by scoring 16 points, Makenzie Lukehart, a sophomore hitting for 14 and junior Lauryn Clarkson scoring 10.
Curwensville took just two foul shots while the Lady Vikings attempted five.
There was no junior varsity game.
The Lady Tide take another road trip on Tuesday, traveling to Brockway to play the Lady Rovers. Junior varsity action starts at 6 pm, with the varsity to immediately follow.
Glendale will battle Harmony at home on Monday.
