Gunmen take hostages at Radisson Blu hotel in Mali

(CNN) — Gunmen have taken hostages at the Radisson Blue Hotel in Mali’s capital, Bamako, the President’s office told CNN.

Soldiers have surrounded the hotel, but officials aren’t sure how many hostages are inside, said presidential spokesman Diarra Diakité.

The U.S. Embassy in Mali has asked American citizens and its staffers to remain indoors after reports surfaced of a shooting at the Radisson Hotel in the capital Bamako. Very little is known about the incident, but the embassy in its tweet called it an “ongoing active shooter operation.”
