MEN’S SWIMMING
WOOSTER, Ohio — Freshman Michael Spencer (Clearfield) was one of two quadruple winners for undefeated Westminster in a 167-127 win over The College of Wooster Saturday.
Spencer touched first in the 50-yard free style in 21.69 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 53.92. Both times bettered his previous season marks.
He also anchored the Titans’ 200 medley relay team’s 1:57.62 victory with a 21.32 split and triggered the 400 free relay quartet’s 3:17.64 win with 48.95 leadoff leg.
The Titans are off to a 4-0 start, and Spencer is one of their top point-getters with six firsts in both individual and relay events.

EDINBORO — Freshman Alex Shugarts (Clearfield) was a member of a winning relay foursome and placed in two individual events for Edinboro in a 116-88 victory over Allegheny at McComb Fieldhouse Friday evening.
He turned in a 22.66-second split in the 200-yard freestyle relay won by the Fighting Scots in 1:27.57.
Shugarts also was third in both the 50 free in 22.70 and 100 free in 50.82.
Edinboro has a 1-1 dual meet record.

WRESTLING
WESTMINSTER, Md. — Junior Nolan Barger (Clearfield) registered a major decision as Lycoming opened the season by defeating host McDaniel 28-15 for coach Roger Crebs’ 350th win Thursday night.
The nation’s No. 2-ranked NCAA Division II 165-pounder handled Luke Yox 11-2.

BLOOMSBURG — Redshirt junior Jake Keller (Curwensville) lost by major decision in Clarion’s 24-19 victory over Bloomsburg in the Eastern Wrestling League opener for both teams Saturday.
Up a weight at 157 pounds, Keller was beaten 15-6 by Brendan Colbert.
He owns a 5-5 record for the Golden Eagles, now 2-3.

FOOTBALL
WEST CHESTER — Redshirt senior Derek Morgan (Clearfield) started at free safety and responded with three unassisted tackles, one for a one-yard loss, as No. 9-ranked Slippery Rock overwhelmed West Chester 61-12 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship game at John A. Farrell Stadium Saturday.
Morgan helped the defense limit the Rams to 52 yards on the ground and 193 through the air while rolling up 557 yards of offense to record the most points and the biggest margin of victory in the history of the title game, which has been played 36 times.
A crowd of 3,005 saw The Rock become the first PSAC repeat champion since the playoff game between the division kingpins was resumed in 2008.
Slippery Rock (10-1) also locked up a trip to the NCAA Division II Playoffs and was accorded the No. 2 seed in Super Region One and will host No. 7 Virginia Union (8-1) Saturday at noon at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
Morgan has appeared in nine games, eight of them as a starting defensive back, with 19 solo stops, 12 tackle assists, two interceptions and six pass break-ups.

LOCK HAVEN — Running back Beau Swales (Clearfield) was one of 15 Lock Haven players honored prior to the kickoff and then capped his four-year career with his 19th start in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover game with California at Hubert Jack Stadium Saturday.
The 6-0, 210-pounder carried three times for eight yards and caught two passes for five yards for the Bald Eagles, whose season finale was spoiled by California University of Pennsylvania 56-24 in front of 946 rooters.
Despite setting a single-season record with 4,603 yards of offense and scoring 277 points, second in program history, the Bald Eagles finished 2-9 with a 2-5 PSAC East Division record.
Swales, who missed two games because of an injury, gained 532 yards on 99 carries, a 5.4 average, and had 95 yards on 13 receptions. He scored two touchdowns.
In 42 career games, Swales carried 367 times for 1,310 yards and five touchdowns, reeled in 57 passes for 461 yards and four touchdowns and returned 37 kickoffs for 837 yards.
He ranks No. 8 on Lock Haven’s all-time list for rushing attempts.

KUTZTOWN — Senior longsnapper Eric White (Clearfield) was on the Andre Reed Stadium turf for eight plays in his final appearance for Clarion, which was beaten 45-17 by Kutztown in a non-conference game that attracted 1,420 fans.
The Golden Eagles began the season with a seven-game winning streak before dropping the last four outings to teams with a combined 35-10 record. They were fourth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division at 4-3.
White, a 6-2, 205-pounder, earned the longsnapper role as a freshman and handled those duties for 41 games.

WILLIAMSPORT — Sophomore offensive right tackle Brad Stubbs (Curwensville) and freshman linebacker Nick Kovalick (Clearfield) were in the starting line as Lycoming closed the season on a high note, thumping Misericordia 38-14 with 1,245 on hand at David Person Field Saturday.
Kovalick had one assisted tackle for the Warrior defense that held the visitors to 264 yards.
In contrast, Lycoming (4-6) amassed 552 yards en route to its third Middle Atlantic Conference win in the final four games for a 4-5 finish.
Kovalick had seven tackles, including six solo stops, in six games with three starts.
Stubbs, who started the season on the defensive line, made four starts in seven games.

HUNTINGDON — Sophomore offensive lineman Jon Janocko (Clearfield) made his fifth appearance for Juniata in Saturday’s 24-17 Goalpost Game loss to visiting Susquehanna in front of 3,850 fans at Chuck Knox Stadium.
The Eagles wound up 2-7 in the Centennial Conference and 3-7 overall.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING
EDINBORO — Sophomore Kara Thorp (Clearfield) earned points in three evens as Edinboro evened its record at 1-1 with a 120-82 win over Allegheny in McComb Fieldhouse Friday evening.
She placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:48.77 and fourth in the 500 free with a 5:48.60 effort, both season bests, and logged a 27.08-second second split for the ‘B’ 200 free relay quartet that finished third in 1:49.06.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
DANVILLE, Ky. — Clearfield Area High School graduates McKenna Aleksivich, Katie Powers and Tessa Munshower got a taste of NCAA Division III Tournament action Friday when Penn State Behrend’s season came to an end with a 3-1 loss to No. 12-ranked Centre.
The Southern Athletic Association co-champs then advanced to the Great Lakes Quadrant semifinals by blanking Capital 4-0 Sunday.
The Lions, who won their fifth consecutive Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference title, finished 13-8.
Aleksivich, a sophomore midfielder/defender, played in 13 games with one goal and five shots, three on goal. Her career totals are 33 games with two starts and six shots, four on goal.
Powers, a sophomore defender, got into 16 games and had one assist and one shot on goal. She played in 10 games last year.
Munshower, a freshman midfielder, recorded one goal and two assists in 17 appearances. Three of her nine shots were on goal.
