Former “Top Gear” presenter Jeremy Clarkson is being sued for racial discrimination in connection with an incident in March that ultimately led to the end of his career with the BBC.
The plaintiff is Oisin Tymon, a BBC producer and the man who was on the receiving end of what has been described as a “physical and verbal incident” with Clarkson. Tymon is suing both his former colleague and the BBC network, according to his legal representatives, the law firm Slater and Gordon.
Incident took place in March
A closed-door hearing was held Friday at a London employment tribunal, Tymon’s lawyers said, without going into detail.
The incident took place at a hotel in northern England in March.
This is not the first time Clarkson has been accused of racial insensitivity. In 2012, he was videoed mumbling the n-word while singing “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.” He apologized, saying his attempt at mumbling had not obscured the word as completely as he intended.
In 2014, after the video surfaced, the BBC gave him what it described as a final warning.
