Kane Stays Unbeaten, Handles The Golden Tide 35-6

KANE – The Curwensville Golden Tide football team lost a critical Allegheny Mountain League (AML) South Division game Friday night on the road to the undefeated Kane Wolves, 35-6.

With the loss, and just two games remaining in the regular AML season, the Tide have been eliminated at 0-2 in the AML South. Both Kane (7-0) and Elk County Catholic (7-0) remain unbeaten in South Division action. Those two squads play next Saturday night (7 pm) in St. Mary’s to undoubtedly determine the 2015 AML South Division champions.

Elk County Catholic remained unbeaten by defeating Northern Cambria Friday night, 21-13.

The Wolves senior quarterback Shane Rolick scored three rushing touchdowns and tossed one TD pass to fuel the offense for Kane.

The game’s first two scores came in the first quarter, both by Rolick, one on a 40 yard run with just 56 seconds gone in the opening frame at the 11:04 mark and the other at the 3:26 point on a one yard quarterback sneak.

Twin brother Tyler Rolick added both extra points to give Kane a 14-0 edge after the first 12 minutes.

At 10:58 of the second quarter T. Rolick found the end zone on a 22 yard scamper and then was successful on the extra point kick to give the Wolves a commanding 21-0 lead.

Curwensville would get back in the game before the halftime break on a one yard touchdown run by junior running back Hunter Johnson with just 28 seconds left until intermission.

The extra point attempt was no good, but at least the Tide found themselves alive before the second half started, trailing just 21-6.

Kane pretty much put the game on ice with 9:05 to go in the third quarter on a 58 yard touchdown pass from S. Rolick to sophomore Ange Costanzo and the successful extra point by T. Rolick had the Wolves in front 28-6.

On the Kane touchdown pass the wet field came into play as Curwensville defender Nick Stewart had a bead on the ball for a potential interception but slipped on the turf giving Costanzia a clear shot for the catch and the touchdown.

The final score came when with 1:55 remaining in the battle as S. Rolick scored on another one yard quarterback sneak.

Brother Tyler then hit the extra point to make the final 35-6 in favor of Kane.

The Golden Tide, 5-2, battle Brockway on Friday in its regular season final home game at 7 pm.
