Fire Safety Tips

Cindy Wick, Cen-Clear Child Services Inc.

Home Fires can start and spread quickly, which is why we all need to be careful and educated when it comes to fire safety. Just a little bit of planning can make a big difference for your family.

Check Your Smoke Alarms

Create and Practice a Fire Escape Plan

In an Emergency, Leave Home Immediately

If You Live in an Apartment, Pull the Alarm

If You’re Stuck Inside, Cover the Areas Where Smoke Might Come In

Keep Flammable Materials in Safe Areas

Don’t Over Plug

Stay Focused Around the Kitchen

Install Barriers Such as Safety Gates Around Fireplaces, Ovens and Furnaces

Blow Out Candles and Store Matches Out of Reach

In addition, you may contact your local fire department or Red Cross office for information on any distribution of smoke alarms.

The Women’s Health Task Force is a small group volunteering their time to educate women and families on important health issues. If you have an interest in health, work in a caring profession, or just want to volunteer with other sincere women, consider attending our planning meetings.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, beginning at 12 p.m. at Penn State Extension, 511 Spruce St., Suite 4, Clearfield, PA 16830. All interested persons are encouraged to attend.

Additional information is available by calling Robin Kuleck, Penn State Extension, at 814-765-7878, Ext.2. Find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/whtfclearfieldcounty.
