DUBOIS – Under the beating wings of eight monarch butterflies released from the campus monarch nursery, Penn State DuBois officially turned 80 years old on Sept. 18.

Curwensville Revitalization to Hold Groundbreaking for Tree Ring Timeline Display

CURWENSVILLE – The Curwensville Area Revitalization Entity will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at Irvin Park in Curwensville at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday to kick off the start of construction of a tree ring timeline display designed and constructed by students of the Curwensville Area School District.

CLEARFIELD – Superintendent Terry Struble provided an update on a few topics, such as school safety measures, the district to parent notification system and class rankings, during Monday night’s Clearfield school board committee meetings.

Father Shares Story of Struggling to Deal with Son’s K2 Addiction

CLEARFIELD – Synthetic marijuana, also known as K2 or spice, among many other names, is on a marked rise in the Clearfield community. Many families have seen the effects of K2 in their homes, including one local father.

The father shared a story about finding out his son had used K2 for two years without his knowledge. “I found out when he was overdosed in his room,” he said, noting he initially thought his son was suffering from a seizure.

State Police Investigating Alleged Robbery Incident

BOGGS TOWNSHIP – State police at Clearfield have initiated an investigation into an alleged robbery incident that occurred Tuesday on Route 322 in Boggs Township.

County Approves Contract with Probation Officers

CLEARFIELD – At Tuesday’s regular meeting, the Clearfield County Commissioners approved its union contract with the Clearfield County Association of Professional Employees.

Pedestrian Killed in Accident in Lawrence Twp.

CLEARFIELD – A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle at 8:42 p.m. Tuesday on Route 879 in Lawrence Township.

Fields Charged in DuBois City Homicide

DUBOIS – A DuBois man has been charged with homicide after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend and she died at their residence, according to court paperwork provided by Magisterial District Judge Pat Ford’s office.

Ritz Gets Second Digital Projector

CLEARFIELD – The second digital projector is being installed this week at the Ritz Theater, so that it can be running for Friday’s evening show of “The Visit,” according to Pamela Babick, chair of the “Save the Ritz” committee.

Wilson to Stand Trial in Child Sexual Abuse Case

CLEARFIELD – A 41-year-old Clearfield man, Franklin William Wilson, will stand trial on 1,211 charges for alleged child sexual abuse that occurred as far back as 2001.
