INDIANA — Senior running back Beau Swales (Clearfield) just missed the 100-yard plateau in Lock Haven’s 38-13 loss to Indiana University of Pennsylvania with 2,496 fans looking on at Miller Stadium Saturday.
He carried 15 times for a season-high 78 yards and added 20 yards on two pass receptions in the winless Bald Eagles’ third Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover game.
Swales leads Bald Eagle rushers with 164 yards on 29 carries and is third in receptions with six for 41 yards.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Redshirt senior strong safety Derek Morgan (Clearfield) made three solo tackles and assisted on another that resulted in a three-yard loss as Slippery Rock’s defense locked down Millersville in a 75-0 rout at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium Saturday night.
The Rock ‘D’ limited the Marauders to 38 net yards for 62 plays in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover game that was seen by 3,126 fans following a one-hour delay because of lightning.
Slippery Rock, ranked No. 18 in NCAA Division II by the American Football Coaches Association, is 3-0 after its first shutout since October 2011.
Morgan now has 13 tackles, including nine solo stops.

CLARION — Senior longsnapper Eric White (Clearfield) had a busy afternoon with the Clarion kicking units as the unbeaten Golden Eagles rolled past winless Cheyney 59-6 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover clash in front of 1,853 fans at Memorial Stadium Saturday.
He initiated action for five punts, eight extra points and two field goals.
Clarion will take a 3-0 record into the PSAC West Division schedule.

WILLIAMSPORT — Sophomore tackle Brad Stubbs (Curwensville) and freshman linebacker Nick Kovalick (Clearfield) drew starting assignments for the Lycoming defense that buckled down in the second half as the Warriors outscored Wilkes 28-3 to pull away to a 48-24 victory Saturday.
A crowd of 2,467 at David Person Field saw the Warriors win their Middle Atlantic Conference opener for a 1-2 record.

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — Freshman linebacker Dusty Maines (Clearfield) saw action in Thiel’s 60-12 loss to undefeated and No. 15-ranked Thomas More at BB&T Field Saturday.
The President’s Athletic Conference opener attracted 2,852 fans.
Maines had one tackle for a seven-yard loss in his other appearance for the 1-2 Tomcats.

MEN’S GOLF
GROVE CITY — Sophomore Jason Thorp (Curwensville) recorded a 78 for Thiel in the Grove City Fall Invitational at the Grove City Country Club Thursday.
He had the second lowest round for the Tomcats, who finished fifth in the six-team tourney with a 320 score. The host Presidents won the title with a 296.
Thorp wound up tied for 14th overall by matching his season’s average.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
CLARION — Sophomore forward Carlee Freeburg (Clearfield) started both of Clarion’s Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference games last week, playing all 110 minutes of the Golden Eagles’ double-overtime 2-2 tie with Mercyhurst at Memorial Stadium Tuesday.
A 2-1 win at Millersville Saturday pushed the Golden Eagles’ record to 2-3-1.
Freeburg has started every game but has yet to record a shot or assist.

WASHINGTON — Sophomore midfielder/defender McKenna Aleksivich, sophomore defender Katie Powers and freshman midfielder Tessa Munshower, all former Clearfield Area High School players, made their fourth appearances for Penn State Behrend Saturday when Washington & Jefferson ended the Lions’ three-game winning streak, 2-0.
Aleksivich and Powers also subbed in the Lions’ home-field 3-1 victory over Mount Union three days earlier.
Penn State Behrend is 3-4.
