DUBOIS – On Monday night, the DuBois City Council voted to award the 2015 Type 2 Anti-skid bid to J.M. DeLullo of Kersey at a rate of $21.15 per ton.
The bid was the lowest of the four submitted to DuBois City. The next lowest bid was $21.23, and the highest was $22.82, according to council.
The council also voted to award the 2015 Type A Limestone to Bucktail Excavators of St. Marys at a rate of $15.28 per ton.
This bid was the lowest of five submitted to DuBois City. The next lowest bid was $15.40, and the highest was $20.12, according to council.
Council said that the trustees of the DuBois Public Library will review the bids for the construction of the elevator in the building.
Council said that currently, individuals who are unable to use stairs have to leave the building and walk around outside to travel between floors.
The lowest bid for the project is at $242,088, and the highest is at $335,077, according to council.
“Once again it just amazes me the difference between the high bid and low bid,” said Councilman Ed Walsh.
Council also reported that DuBois City has received the state Department of Environmental Protection permit to restore Sandy Lick Creek from the Liberty Boulevard Bridge to Showers Field.
Sections of the bank washed away during the flood several years ago. The goal of the restoration will move the creek back towards what it was in the 1970’s after the original Army Corps of Engineers’ work, council said.
