LTE: CPCA Thanks Supporters for Successful Night Golf Tournament

Dear Editor:

Central Pennsylvania Community Action (CPCA) and the Prom Closet organizers would like to say thank you to all of the teams, sponsors and donors for making the fourth annual Night Golf Tournament a success.

We also want to extend a very special thank you to Eagles Ridge Golf Course, which graciously hosted the event after the Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club cancelled the reservation last minute.

This year we raised more than $2,500 for the Prom Closet located at the Presbyterian Church of Clearfield and hosted by the CPCA.

Over the past 11 prom seasons, the Prom Closet has assisted 1,006 area students with a prom dress, accessories, jewelry, shoes and tuxedo rentals.

The Prom Closet is operated solely on donations and is a self-declared need; there are no income guidelines.  The mission of the program is to assist area high school students with obtaining prom attire.

Purchasing a prom gown or renting a tuxedo can be very expensive and families who are already living paycheck-to-paycheck, or on a limited income, often are unable to afford the additional costs.

Donated dresses and tuxedos are received at CPCA or Chubby’s One Hour Cleaners in Clearfield.  When you donate your dress or tuxedo at Chubby’s One Hour Cleaners a 15 percent discount card will be given for your next dry cleaning item.

All other items will be received, during prom season, at the Presbyterian Church of Clearfield, 119 N. Second St., located across from the Clearfield Post Office.

If you or your business would be interested in becoming a community partner, please contact Melissa Henry at the CPCA.
