At least 33 people were killed and 23 others wounded in a suicide attack near a U.S. base in eastern Afghanistan, officials said.
A suicide car bomb went off near a coalition forces base in the city of Khost on Sunday evening, according to Faizullah Ghairat, police chief of Khost Province.
Six security guards were among the dead, the Afghan government said in a statement Monday.
No Americans or other members of the NATO-led mission in Afghanistan were hurt in the attack, the U.S. military said.
It wasn’t immediately clear who was responsible for the attack.
