Margaret Salvatore, 97, of Clearfield died Monday, June 29, 2015 at her home. She was born May 26, 1918 in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Mike and Mary (Werba) Fetcenko.

Mrs. Salvatore was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her family, a day that she officially retired from less than a month ago. She also loved to garden, tend her flowers sew and cook treats to share.

She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Clearfield, where she was involved with the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of the Clearfield American Legion and the Auxiliary of the Disabled American Veterans, DuBois.

She is survived by her husband, Paul L. Salvatore, to whom she was wed Nov. 8, 1947 in Philipsburg, and three daughters, Sandra Absher and her husband, Bob of Girdwood, Alaska, Paula Rosen and her husband, Marc of Millers, Md., and Debra Sayler and her husband, Bradley of Hagerstown, Md.

She is survived by four grandchildren, Jeremy Applegate, Benjamin Applegate and his wife, Ginger, Kristin Cornell and her husband, Christopher and Erica Sayler and two great-grandchildren, Ethan Bubien and Shasa Applegate.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Swansegar of Philipsburg and Irene Engel of Ohio and two brothers, Larry and Raymond Fetcenko, both of Ohio. She is also survived by two special friends, Elva Fleisher and Marie Garito, both of Clearfield.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, George and Mitchel Fetcenko and two sisters, Pauline Verost and Dorothy Fetcenko.

Mrs. Salvatore’s family would also like to recognize the heart-felt care given by the nurses and aides of Clearfield Hospice and her other caregivers, including Janet Cowder, Mary Hurd and Melissa Taylor. Your kindness and support is truly appreciated.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with Pastor George W. Solley officiating. Burial will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 1010 Dorey St., Clearfield, or to Clearfield Foundation for Health – Hospice, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield.
