Update for Work on Atherton Street

State College – A roadway improvement project along Atherton Street (Route 3014) in State College is continuing, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has an update for work taking place June 29 through July 10.

Work will include:

*        Full-depth patching restoration

*        Drainage upgrades

*        Painting of traffic control lines.

** No work will be performed on the project from July 2 through July 12 due to construction restrictions for the July 4th holiday and the Festival of the Arts.

All work is weather and schedule dependent. Traffic volumes through this area are heavy and drivers should anticipate travel delays. No work will be done May 22 to May 26 due to the Memorial Holiday weekend.

Work this year includes utility relocation, drainage upgrades, roadway reconstruction, pavement markings, and miscellaneous items. Once work is complete, travel along this section of Atherton Street should be smoother and more efficient.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $4.4 million project. PennDOT reminds motorists to drive with caution through work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com.  511PA, which is free and available 24 hours aday, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 770 traffic cameras.
