CLARENCE — A.J. Onder pitched a six-hitter as Clarence gained a split with the Clearfield American Legion Post 6 baseball team in their Central Penn League series with a 6-1 win Friday evening.
Onder, who struck out two and walked two, lost the shutout in the fourth inning when Ty Bender doubled, Marcus Luzier and Brandon Orsich bounced into a forceoutC
Luzier and Justin Fedder each had two singles for the Chiefs, who slipped to 3-5.
Ryan Dyke and Noah Chambers topped the Mounties’ 10-hit attack with three singles apiece, while Trey Butterworth added a single and a double.
Clarence, which lost 4-2 at Clearfield in the season opener, broke it open with six runs in the third inning, two on Butterworth’s two-bagger and two on Onder’s single.
The Mounties had five hits and seven runs off loser Curt Collins, who had one strikeout and one walk in his three-inning stint. He also hit two batters.
Logan Lykens finished up with two strikeouts while allowing five hits and two runs in three innings.
The Chiefs will try to rebound Tuesday in a home game against Philipsburg at the Bison Sports Complex.
