38 killed in fire at Chinese rest home, state media report

Thirty-eight people were killed and six others injured after a fire broke out at a rest home in central China late Monday, state media reported.

The cause of the fire at the home in Henan Province was unclear, the Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua reported, citing authorities.

A search and rescue operation at the scene of the privately-owned Kangleyuan rest home in Pingdingshan City is underway.
