Petrillo Accused of Public Intoxication, Drug Possession

DUBOIS – A DuBois man is accused of possession of a controlled substance following an incident in downtown DuBois.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office on May 13, Johnny Weylin Petrillo, 31, 409 Burt St., DuBois, is charged by the DuBois City police with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness or similar misconduct following an incident on West Long Avenue.

According to the affidavit, on March 22, officers on patrol saw a man walking across West Long Avenue near the intersection with Jared Street. The officers allegedly saw the man stumbling and nearly falling as he was attempting to cross the street. The officers continued to watch the man, to be sure everything was OK, and saw the man continuing to stumble.

The offices then spoke to the man, later identified as Petrillo. The officers observed that Petrillo appeared to be under the influence of something but could not smell any alcohol. When the officers asked for identification, Petrillo allegedly showed them a prescription medication bottle with the name “Johnny Petrillo” on the label.

When asked for another form of identification, Petrillo allegedly told police his wallet was inside his duffel bag. When Petrillo opened the bag to retrieve his wallet, the officers allegedly saw several syringes inside. The officers asked Petrillo if he were diabetic and Petrillo allegedly answered that he was not, but that he uses the syringes to inject subutex.

The officers noticed that Petrillo’s eyes were dilated and not responding to light and he was having a difficult time standing. The officers then searched Petrillo and found a syringe, filled with a red substance and a pill bottle containing a substance later identified as marijuana.
