Lady Tide Collar Brockway Lady Rovers, 15-4

CURWENSVILLE – With a 15-4 win over visiting Brockway on Tuesday afternoon the Curwensville Area High School girls softball team improved to 12-6 on the 2015 season.

The Lady Tide defeated the Lady Rovers in mid-April in Brockway ,8-2.

This time however, Curwensville only needed 4 1/3 innings to pick up the victory, as the 10-run mercy rule came into play in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Curwensville head coach Allen Leigey liked his offense from the start, saying, “We started fast today. Our entire lineup hit the ball extremely well this afternoon. We only had one player not get a hit, but even she stung the ball. My girls have so much confidence, and they knew coming into today’s game they were going to hit well.”

And it all started in the bottom of the first inning when the Lady Tide scored nine times that essentially put the game away.

The Lady Tide added two more in the second and then put the 10-run mercy rule into effect with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning with one out.

Five Curwensville players each had two hits – Kayley Harnett, Rylee Young, Alaina Stiles, Hannah Dixon and Haley McGarry. Stiles and Haley McGarry each smacked a double.

For Brockway it was Bartlett with two hits while Adrianna Terwilliger had a double.

Curwensville travels to Clearfield on Wednesday to battle the Lady Bison at 4:30 pm in the final regular season contest for the Lady Tide. After that, Curwensville will await the pairings for the upcoming District 9 A playoffs that begin next week.
