PHILIPSBURG — McKenzie Burge celebrated Senior Day for the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School softball team by driving in seven runs with four consecutive hits and Maggie Peck pitched a four-inning two-hitter as the Lady Mounties capped a perfect run to the Mountain League championship with a 15-0 Mercy Rule win over Clearfield Friday afternoon.
Victoria Ireland doubled for the Lady Bison, who finished 5-9 in the league.
Burge got the Lady Mounties on the board with an RBI single in the first inning, followed with a two-run single in the third and then had two key hits in the 10-run outburst that ended it in the bottom of the fourth.
Her single knocked in the first two runs and her two-out double chased home the last two runs for a walk-off win, P-O’s 14th in the league for a 17-2 record.
Chelsey Henry also had a big day at the plate with three hits, including a two-run home run in the third frame and a two-run single in the fourth.
Pinch-hitters Courtney Watson, Morgan Thompson and Annie Kost doubled across runs and Camryn Frank added an RBI single in the uprising.
Peck had six strikeouts while issuing two walks and hitting one batter.
The loss was charged to Raeleigh Redden, who allowed seven hits and five runs in three innings.
Only two of the runs surrendered by Erica Hanes in the fourth were earned.
Clearfield (6-10) will bring down the curtain on the regular season with four non-league games in as many days next week, beginning with a home encounter against Hollidaysburg Monday.
