Royal baby: Duchess of Cambridge goes into ‘early stages of labor’

The royal baby wait appears to be nearly over.

The Duchess of Cambridge was hospitalized early Saturday in the early stages of labor, Kensington Palace announced.

It will be the second child for Prince William, 32, and Catherine Middleton, 33, who was scheduled to give birth last month. Their son, Prince George, was born in July 2013.

Catherine made her last official appearance in March in London, where she toured a learning center and a church that hosts a youth charity.

The duchess, who was accompanied by her husband, was transported by car to St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London.
