CURWENSVILLE — Four games in as many days does not give a lot of time to prepare for the next opponent, nor does it give an opportunity to recover from the previous day’s contest. The Golden Tide of Curwensville finally hit the end of their stretch of four games in as many days.
The final game of the stretch happened at their home field, giving them a chance to get back on the winning track as they would welcome the Brockway Rovers to the diamond.
At the end of seven innings, it was the Rovers standing tall as they would gain the lead early, and hold off a Tide rally in the fifth to take the win in a 6-5 final.
Lindemuth would pick up the win in relief of Rover starter Corey Carr after tossing the final four innings. Bryce Timko would be tagged with the loss as he would throw three and a third innings, but gave up six runs, all of them earned, on five hits.
Brockway would start things off very fast and in a big way as Bo Boyle would lead off the game on a walk, but then would steal both second and third. Seth Shugarts would bring Boyle in on the next at bat. Michael Martino would then walk during the next-at-bat and would be brought in on an RBI-single by Carr. Andrew Serafini would bring Carr in on an RBI-single but would be tagged out when trying to steal second.
Curwensville would hold the Rovers off from scoring on the next two innings, but could not muster up any offense to drop the gap in the score. The fourth inning would be the one that was exciting for both squads, as Brockway would add another three runs in the frame.
Jarrett Esposito would score the first run of the inning, nailing an RBI-single into left field to bring Serafini to home plate. Hunter Antonuccio would score the second run of the inning rather easily, as he reached home on a bases-loaded walk by Boyle. Carr would swing and connect on an RBI-single to left field, bringing Boyle home for Brockway’s final run of the game.
Curwensville would not go down without a fight, as in the bottom half of the inning the Tide began their comeback.
A.J. Bloom would score the easiest run of the inning as he would be walked to each base. Timko would score on an error, and then a few batters later Noah Strickland would reach home on another error by Brockway, cutting the lead in half. Jake Terry would hit an RBI-single into shallow right field, which brought in Travis Lansberry. Garrett Shaw would score on a fielding error. Finally, Brockway would end the comeback on a fielder’s choice, and would hold on through the final three innings to clinch the win
The four-game stretch for the Tide resulted in four losses, and now with a 1-5 record, Curwensville will not have to take the field again until Monday when they host Punxsutawney.
