Embick Waives Hearing in Sexual Assault Case

CLEARFIELD – A Curwensville woman accused of having sexual relations with two boys waived her right to a preliminary hearing during Centralized Court on Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.

Stephanie Ann Embick, 31, of Curwensville has been charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors. Embick’s bail has been set at $50,000 unsecured.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Curwensville Borough police received a report about an alleged sexual assault involving two boys that occurred Aug. 30, 2014. Both boys were transported to the police department for interviews Sept. 7, 2014.

The first boy told police they were riding bicycles on the date in question when Embick walked up to them and allegedly started touching their chests over their shirts. The boy said Embick then invited them inside her residence.

The boy said he believed Embick was intoxicated while she smelled of alcohol and slurred her speech. He alleged that Embick wanted them to lie down on the couch. The boy said he and the other boy sat down on opposite ends; he said that Embick sat down between them.

According to both boys, Embick turned off the lamp and her residence was completely dark. The second boy alleged that Embick started kissing him; when she asked that night, he got on the floor beside her.

On the floor, he alleged Embick put her hand on his chest while making comments to him. He said at that point, he got up and sat back down on the couch.

However, the second boy alleged that Embick pulled him back onto the floor. He alleged that Embick proceeded to perform sex acts on him. The first boy alleged he also got on the floor and Embick performed sex acts on him that night.

Trooper Kim J. Ronan of the Pennsylvania State Police conducted a polygraph examination on Embick. During a pre-test interview, Embick initially denied having sexual relations with the boys.

Embick subsequently admitted that she had sexual relations with both. However, she denied having sexual intercourse with the second boy.
