CLEARFIELD – District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of March 23.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Donald Beckman, 47, of Clearfield. Beckman is wanted for failure to appear at Criminal Call on March 19.
On Sept. 20, 2014, Patrolman Mitchell R. Klender of the Clearfield Borough police filed a criminal complaint against Beckman. He charged Beckman with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, F3; driving under the influence of alcohol, M1; possession of a small amount of marijuana, M; use or possession of drug paraphernalia, M; drivers required to be licensed, S; careless driving, S; and reckless driving, S.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, while on routine patrol Sept. 19, 2014, police observed a motorcycle pass through the intersection at Turnpike Avenue and Nichols Street at a high rate of speed. Police also observed the motorcycle fail to stop at a posted stop sign.
Klender attempted to stop the motorcycle, but its operator accelerated; the operator also failed to stop at several posted stop signs before stopping in a business parking lot. Upon making contact with the operator, Klender detected signs of impairment.
When police conducted a search of Beckman, it resulted in finding suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Beckman was then transported to the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital for blood testing.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 24, 2014, at which time all charges were held for court. On March 19, Beckman failed to appear for Criminal Call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Beckman is described as a Caucasian male who stands 5 feet, 11 inches tall. He has black hair and blue eyes.
